My brother had fish for far longer than my parents expected him to have... He was in a Tide commercial when he was 4 years old, and there were fish in his fake bedroom on the set. He loved looking at the fish between takes, so the director offered to give them away, since they were going to be flushed after the shoot anyway. These run-of-the-mill goldfish survived dirty tanks and probably more than a few days of not being fed... they lived for 5 years, which is 4 years longer than my parents wanted to be caring for a tank of fish.
