Fire Emblem is quite an amazing game, isn't it? I played Path of Radiance and was equally impressed (In fact, I've beaten it twice now, once on hard). I felt the same way about maybe liking it as much as Suikoden, but while I liked Suikoden for its story, I like Fire Emblem because it is simply so much fun to play. I mean, the game is just plain fun and the gameplay is truly addictive--I can't say enough about that. I ventured into one of the communities for a little while (velthomer.net), but I haven't gone back there for awhile.
Anyways, I've really wanted to play Radiant Dawn as you can probably imagine, but I don't have a Wii. I'm supposed to be getting one for Christmas though apparently (that's another story in itself), and it'd be the first game I'd get for sure.^^
You must be really good at strategy RPGs if you can play in hard mode. O_O Or maybe I'm not good enough.
I'm not so good with the whole planning waaaay ahead or even a little ahead, and always end up making suicidal moves. While Thomas is in the other room working on his final projects, he hears a lot of "Nooooo! Don't kill him!"
I haven't headed over to any online communities yet since I do at least want to finish the game before I start participating.
I am looking forward to that Wii game as well. The price needs to come down a little bit more, since we've been trying to cut back on buying full price wii games. But then again, I'll probably just end up buying it immediately upon finishing the GC game.
I actually didn't find Hard Mode to be too bad, except for a couple battles--though I did have to restart quite a bit because characters kept dieing. That last battle was a pain in the ass though, let me tell you. Also, after playing it through once, I'd gotten the hang of what I had to do to maximize my character's abilities and such--I wouldn't have been able to just start out and play on hard right away. Things like not using Titania in the beginning because she sucked up all the experience because she is so high level helped a lot. Also, using most of the paladins helped a lot, since it takes a lot to take a paladin down.
Also, I've heard that the difficulty gets "dumbed down" for Fire Emblem games released in America. Obviously I can't verify that myself, but if you're playing the Japanese version, than perhaps thats the case! I've also heard that the Wii game is supposed to be much more difficult than the GC game. X_X
Hullo! You're still alive! (And Thomas too!!) That's good news ^^
Yeah, Fire Emblem is a good game for sure. But having no console more advanced than a 10 year old PSX, I can't play the ones for next generation consoles. Instead, I played the SNES and GBA ones on emulator. They're nice nice nice (though I have to say that the storyline tend to be rather cliche).
Hopefully you two will enjoy your trip to Japan. I'll get there someday too. Someday ...
I'll force my brother to get at least a PS2 when he went back for a short visit to Indonesia again. Will force him to get Suikoden III, IV, V, Tactics too while he's there in a few months. That way I can properly play those games lol.
I have no idea about the storyline of the GC one, but the GBA ones had quite basic storyline of so-and-so want revenge and whatnot. The SNES one I played (number 4 I think) actually had a better story than the GBA ones, but the battle is very long and I'm often too tired after a while. I still haven't finished that game yet.
I'm doing alright, working in a casual fast-food restaurant as semi-assistant manager (simply because I refused to work full time because the pay for full time is not great ... increased responsibilities by a lot, but not enough pay raise). So yeah, now working about 3-5 days a week and often seen playing FFXI on days off. XD
Oh btw, if Thomas still remembers, I hung out with Andy (Masamune [I think] from The Castle). He's the dude who started the idea of fan voice acting for Suikoden I back there. He now lives in Melbourne too, so I hung out with him a few weeks ago and he mentioned about losing touch with Thomas. So yeah, in case he still remembers him, let him know about it. ^^

PSX! You need to get yourself at least an Ex-Next Gen system. XD
I do plan on trying out those SNES and GBA ones as well. I usually don't
have much talent in critiquing storylines, so I should be fine.
So how are you doing, Standy san???
It feels like I haven't chatted with you in ages.
