So. Pirates.

I can't decide if I loved or hated this movie.

Okay, so I loved it. More than the first one and most certainly more than the second. The first movie gave your sense of wonder a poke, and made you feel like there were great things to come, and come they did. While the second movie was entirely too long and seemed like a pointless filler, I quickly realized that it's most certainly vital to remember almost every detail of it before moving on to movie three. Pirates of the Caribbean 3 creeps up on you and knocks you down in a heart-felt tackle.

While some scenes in this movie feel like they've come straight from the mind of Salvidor Dali and his surrealist films of the late twenties, I think they add to the appeal of the film and signify a deconstruction of all that you expect of the Pirates franchise. They prepare you for the shake up that's to come from all of the characters you hold so dear.

Elizabeth as the Pirate King? Odd and unexpected. It didn't seem to fit until the very last moment. Will as the captain of the Flying Dutchman? The whole back story between Calypso Tia Dalma and Davy Jones? Astounding!

So I cried. But you all know that I cry at every movie. But I really cried in this one.

What made me cry? Lord Beckett, aboard the HMS Endeavor goes down with his ship. The visual imagery from this scene was amazing, and goddammit, I always cry during these kinds of fucking movies!

In other news, I managed to blow an entire paycheck today. I bought jazz shoes which make me feel like I can actually dance (newsflash: I can't), a new bike seat, and gas. No wonder I always feel poor. But my next paycheck should be AWESOME with a side of EVEN MORE AWESOME sauce. This week I'm working fifty hours, and I get time and a half for my eight and ten hour shifts on Sunday and Monday. And I'm going to get my tattoo, and it will be AMAZING.
