I know I must have told you this... because I tell everyone this, but just in case... just in case:
Mishima not only committed ritual Seppuku upon the day that he delivered the manuscript for the fourth book... but he had actually told his publisher and close friend that he would do so upon the completion of the tetralogy, before he started writing the first words. So this is very much Mishima's requiem. You have in your hands a work that one great many literally gave his all to.
This is an interesting fact to keep in mind as you read... because as you draw closer to the end, the immutable beat plays on and on and it begins to make so much sense... not only the logical conclusion within the story, but outside of it too.
I am very aware of that. I enjoy retelling it to those who inquire.
THe only other book of his I've read, as you know, was Confessions of a Mask. I seem to identify very well with his main characters - if not only their(his, Japanese traditional) thought processes.

The blindfold is still on, but one can at least sense.
Your carapace also is quite stunning. Nothing compared to what it contains, however.
When I first read this book, Kiyo reminded me a little of you in some aspects. Just some.

But now things have progressed in the most interesting of ways; at least for Kiyo.
