Oscars
Well, I'm obviously an irregular journalist, but we've just gotten through watching the Academy Awards, and a few things struck me this year...
We're scared. America is scared. The whole presentation had an almost sterile feel -- somber tones, no real "kick" to any of the presentations or acceptance speeches. The music nominated this year was all very sentimental. The dresses harked back to the 40s or the 70s or a combination thereof. A fantasy film swept the Oscars. You could feel the palpable longing for a safer time, or a hero for this one...

Of course, I feel compelled to add that it warmed my heart when Peter Jackson mentioned his Feebles roots...
