That's quite admirable, Mariam. Now, after reading this entry, STARS seems so obsolete and even a little selfish. But I'm glad you have realized the fulfillment of teaching. Do you remember that day in Chemistry when Mr. Schallon was our sub? Well, he told us that schools need gifted students, like you and me and all of us, to become teachers. It's unfortunate that most kids like us choose to become scientists or doctors, forgetting that there can be no scientifc advancement without teachers.

I'm going to make an early-New Year's resolution: become a volunteer at II this school year.
