Knowing SG-1 as we do, I'm sure they would eventually have relaxed and let her talk candidly when she was 'at home' with SGC personnel only. They had to be strict to start with though, to be sure she wouldn't slip up in front of those without security clearance. I agree it must've been one heck of a tough adjustment for the poor kid though.
Absolutely loved it! Love Jack and Cassie's interactions, and how Jack lets everyone pitch in with suggestions, but ends up with the best suggestion. Thanks for sharing!
This was so sweet. I love the idea of Hanka for the dog on so many levels - not only for its practicality in terms of explaining slipups, but that the comfort of doggishness being the perfect foil for homesickness. If that makes any sense. :)
Cassie is one of SG-1's real victories, so it's great to see them together like this.
Awww thanks for the feedback folks. I couldn't help but wonder how Janet would react to the fait accompli of having to adopt a dog alongside Cassie. Plus I always felt cheated that after the gifting we never heard of the dog again. I toyed with writing an angst-ridden scene where Jack comforts a distraught Cassie when the dog has to be put down, but decided that there would probably be enough heartache in the rest of the alphabet so I'd do something slightly fluffier.
