is there a sticker or something you could put on the new one, some way to decorate it so that it has a bit of the old one? paint its name on it "replacement compressor"...that kind of thing :)
I totally understand, the things we use every day especially if they've gotten temperamental really seem to have personalities of their own. You get to know their whims and idiosyncrasies and miss them when they're gone even if they drive you a little nuts when they're still here.
I'm very sorry to hear it. You lost a good tool. In this age of crappy machinery it's hard to get a tool that is funtional. And besides it was kind of an extension of yourself, it connected you to your work, which knowing you, you put a heck of a lot of love and care into, so in that sense I can see how losing that tool, is like losing a small part of yourself.
But it's exciting to have a new one and you will grow to love it (you can already appreciate it's virtue) but we often have an attachment to the earlier more difficult things (the first car, that college appartment or dormroom).
It nice that you APPRECIATE things.
You've been on my mind a little. How are you and Willy? I'm supposed to visit my brother in Ohio near the Washington boarder. I would like to find a way to incorporate seeing you as well.
Having buried two compressors which had lovingly served through thick and thin, well not really the last died an unseemly death just when it was needed most, most likely from oil deprivation, being an oiless compressor, I just want to say that I can feel your pain. It throbs (well given a broken compressor it does) & I wouldn't touch that line on a bet...
