Real honesty here. I agree with what someone posted, it sounds like bitterness. I have a tendency and have been asking God to change my heart about the church, because you are correct in saying that many of them to not preach the truth, which I probably unrightfully blame a lot of my struggles on. which is wrong. I gave into some decepive truths. Because of this I've used "hurting for the church" pointing out all their faults, thinking it was in love and hurt... which maybe it was partially. But really it was a disguise for bitterness and hurt because above all else I felt THEY should have been encouraging me when I needed it the most. My parents recognized it, and knew it was simply complaining. Anyways, I've been praying God would change my heart about the church, specifically my church. He has, he's given me compassion for them and I'm able to go to church there without being angry every time I heard the sermon. I'm actually able to let God teach me through it. I kid you not, go and read through some of the articles at www.credenda.org. You may not agree with them totally on everything, but they are absolutely brilliant critics (friendly) of contemporary evangelicalism. I laugh and laugh every time I read something from them.

Thanks, I love books and I love the Irish. I it were a bigger picture, you'd see the word "IRISH" in big letters across the top of the book.
Let me know what you think of Credenda/Agenda. I laugh and laugh every time I read it.
Sometimes they get a little crass though - be warned! :)
