You know, I live about 35 miles from NYC. I know it inside and out. It's really no different than the rest of the world. It's just a little bigger and little busier. But its philosophies are all the same as the rest of the world. It's very difficult to be an 'outsider' Christian and come to NYC for all the reasons you stated. I think that is why people go there with blinders on, because they don't want to face the reality of what goes on there.
Maybe you can rest in the comfort of knowing - if God leads you to share the Gospel with someone there, you will. If it's His intention to save someone there - He will. And if he intends to you use to do it - He will.
Just try to enjoy NYC. There are people all over the world who will only dream of visiting there. But you have been fortunate enough to actually go. Forget the fashions and go to the Park!!! :)
I agree with Dave. Just look for opportunities but don't force them. God is in control. If you get a change, though, I would recommend going by Graffiti (aka 7th Street Baptist). It's at 7th St and Ave D, Lower East Side of Manhattan. They have an amazing ministry there. Their children's program was one of the models for my ministry in Ablilene.
And I also agree about forgetting the fashion. When I was in NYC on a mission trip I tried to be all fashionable and wear this flowy skirt that was really in style at the time. Totally pulled a Marilyn Monroe walking over a subway grate. *blushes profusely* NOT GOOD!!!
ya God has changed me cause i dont want to force people anymore. i want to love them and let them know Christ loves them. when amy and i joined he reminded us new members that we are ambassadors for Christ not prosecuting autorneys. stuck with me.

You know there is a singer who stole your name out there. Truely. She's aight, and probably sings better than you. Not my taste actually.
Sad in NYC? You know there is always room for improvement everywhere but sometimes you gotta relax and enjoy. Anyway, peace outside.
