25 Books in 2009

This is a meme pretty much everyone else was doing and I thought it would be a good way to track the books I read through the course of a year ( Read more... )

YAY!!!

I've seen people do more than 25 books, but I cut mine down to 25, because I didn't think I would be able to read more LOL.

I'm already starting to consider making it 50....

Most of the people I have seen do it have been aiming for about 25-30. Last year I read about 40 books but they weren't always the best books. So hopefully this year will read less but they will be more substantial. TBH this is an excuse for me to track what i read in the course of a year, every year I say I'm going to do it but never do.

Go for it! :) Seems like you are on a roll!

Fun idea. I seem to have this thing where I read continually for awhile, and then I stop. I'm currently in a "stop" mode. I may have to do something like this to restart it. :)

I'm exactly the same. I went for nearly a year without reading anything but last year I went crazy and read nearly 40 during the course of the year. I forgot how much I loved reading when I didn't do it particularly in the summer!!

You should go for it! I'm using this as an excuse to track how much I actually do read in the year.

Ooh, some interesting books in there. The only one on that list I have read though is Dead And Gone.

Seriously, i have read some of the best books this year. I can't rate Cormac McCarthy's 'The Road' highly enough nor 'The Year of Wonders' by Geraldine Brooks.

What were your thoughs on 'Dead and Gone'? I'm a bit mixed with it...I don't think it was the best of the series....

Definitely not the best one - it seems to be more of a bridge book than anything. Tying up some loose ends as she removes some plotlines (I'm all for more coherency by minimizing plotlines, although I will miss the fae characters she took out), amping up some other stakes... definitely seems more like a build-up novel than a climax one. It seems to serve the grand scheme of things more than others.

I agree it seemed like a bit of a clear out book. The cast, i guess, was starting to get a bit large and ungainly similar to the cast in Anita Blake and major props to Harris for not shying away from killing them off. It was a shame to lose the fae characters but I'm glad Bill has become a player again cause while I prefer Eric we need a bit of a romantic struggle going down. The whole Quinn thing didn't really sit well or have much importance to the plot and i wondered why he was included at all, I'm hoping this is setting something up for the next book but i get the feeling it was more closing a door i already thought shut...

Which Vamp do you think Niall was referring to when he said 'He really loves you'; while i want it to be Eric i have a suspicious it may have been Bill...

You've read 18 books so far this year? I've somehow managed to read 62 so far this year. I must be crazy - my goal is 100. :/

I haven't updated this in ages. I've read at least two books since i updated last time. Unfortunatley working full time doesn't leave much time for reading. When i had a weeks holiday i managed to get through 6 books though so wasn't bad going.

Will update this now.

Do you use GoodReads at all? I do. Good way of tracking books you read etc.

I don't. I tend to use that visual bookshelf thing on facebook quite a bit.
