A few weeks ago my mum went to the doctors about a swelling in her neck she'd had for a few months. She had blood tests taken which came back fine. But to be safe the doctor booked her in to go and have a scan at the Hospital ( Read more... )

Well, it's not cancer (thank god). They're not 100% sure what it is though, so they are going to run a few more tests. The bet is on sarcoidosis though. xx

So glad to hear it's not cancer! What is sarcoidosis?

Well we don't know much ourselves but what I've gleaned from the internet is that it causes random swellings throughout your body. Apparently it's really rare that it causes something important, like your brain, to swell so is rarely fatal.

Hopefully we will know more when they can confirm this is what she has.

I'm sorry and I know nothing I'll say will make you feel better. :( We can only hope and pray.

Thankfully they couldn't find any cancerous cells, but it sure as hell makes you worry when they ring you so urgently.

Oh, that's awesome. And why did they urgently ring you anyways?

God knows! I think it's because they want to do some more tests and they found a lump in her nose on the MRI they wanted to look at a bit closer. But you would think they would try and word their messages so you don't panic and assume the worst!

Thanks, babe. Luckily they couldn't find any cancer cells but they're not sure what it is. They want to run quite a few more tests which will hopefully shed some light on it. They are thinking Sarcoidosis though.

How's things with you? x

It's good to know it's not cancer but I hope for all your sake's they figure out what it is soon. Medical mysteries are the worst kind.

Things are pretty good for me. My grandpa was just in the hospital because of a blockage in his leg but everything went well and he's coming home today. I also just got a Macbook so I'm looking forward to pretending that I'm a musician and film maker and generally just enjoying the shiny awesomeness of it. :)

They truly are. The sooner you find out what it is the sooner you can start treating it etc as well. I'll be glad when we know cause at the moment it's a bit like a dark cloud hanging over us all.

I'm glad you Grandpa is getting better. What kind of blockage was it?

Ohh, I'm very jealous of your Macbook. I covet it. When/if my laptop ever dies (I hope not soon as really need to back it up) I think I'm converting to the Mac world...
