[✐fan essay] kul elna speculation spectacular part 2

Jul 08, 2011 23:11

First off, after watching way too many videos of snakes eating mice, I have to retract the whole "just gulp 'em down" thing Diabound has been doing. Killing one's prey first does make sure it doesn't, you know, claw your throat going down. Yeah.

That said.

and then my fanon got weirder )

-first off, I've got little clue with AE actual history, despite some intrigue and documentary watching. So most my writings/planned writings from the period are very fly by the seat of my YuGiOh. I mean Wiki. I mean pants ( ... )

I've made the Tut point, so that might be coming from - me. ^_^; Though I'm hardly the first person to draw that connection, I'm sure. (The poor kid had all kinds of health problems, apparently. Actually, everyone did. Atem is fortunate ( ... )

That, is quite possible. xD

Well, I'll go back to the war point- I wouldn't be surprised if that all fell into place and then the Pharaoh couldn't really deal with the problem given he had other fronts to defend and focus on.

It was talking namely Ramses IV's reign (1155-1149), so yes that's a fair ways off. I was just thinking the abandoning a village because of war and it leading to tombrobbers and "going bad" reminded me of the Kul Elna situation, and that might be what inspired the idea to Takahashi. It'd be a little fast, but we never do hear any details about this war bad enough to make the Items, do we? It could have been going on a while... Do we have any huge come-behind victory in history to compare that to?.

That's a good point indeed...and far as I recall, we don't hear much about the war save that apparently they didn't think Egypt would be strong enough on its own without Item intervention. (Which flies in the face of my time placement since Amenhotep III was known for military victory, come to think of it.) If it'd been going on for quite some time, that'd make the victory all the more stunning, wouldn't it? Certainly an interesting twist to put on the situation. I have my own - reason in my AU - why the Pharaoh decides to just make the Items, but wow, I can only imagine how much more of a Big Good Deal the Items would be if they stopped in a day what years of warfare couldn't. I'll check the manga.

Since I've focused mainly on daily life in Egypt when researching, I really couldn't tell you about comparable invasions. It's near the top of my to-research list, however.

...I just know I'm going to go home, check my manga, and find all kinds of things that blow holes in my theories. It never fails.
