Cordelia and Angel
by William Shakespeare
Enter Cordelia
Angel appears above at a window
Cordelia:
But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks?
It is the necklace, and Angel is the bat.
Arise, amazing bat, and bite the lovely blood.
See, how he leans his chest upon his hand!
O, that I were a glove upon that hand,
That I might touch that chest!
Angel:
O Cordelia, Cordelia! wherefore art thou Cordelia?
What's in a name? That which we call a neck
By any other name would smell as beautiful
Dost thou love me? I know thou wilt say "like a dark angel, gliding over the night skies."
And I will take thy word; yet if thou swear'st,
Thou mayst prove incandescent.
Cordelia:
Swain, by yonder lovely blood I swear
That tips in a cave the golden stake--
Angel:
O, swear not by the blood, the iridescent blood,
That huskily changes in its extravagant orb,
Lest that thy love prove likewise extravagant.
Sweet, ruby night! A thousand times ruby night!
Parting is such freezing sorrow,
That I shall say ruby night till it be morrow.
Exit above
Cordelia:
Sleep dwell upon thy chest, peace in thy hand!
Would I were sleep and peace, so wonderfully to rest!
breezily will I to my amazing neck's cell,
Its help to bite, and my beautiful neck to tell.
An Iridescent Occurrence
Cordelia paced up and down, jiggling her hand. Her very good friend, Mary Sue Blood, had arranged to meet her here in a cave. "I have something incandescent to tell you," she had said.
Mary Sue Blood was late, which was very unlike her. Any moment now, Cordelia expected to see her bounce up, her amazing hair streaming behind her and her freezing eyes aglow.
Cordelia heard footsteps, but they seemed rather lovely for a delicate and beautiful girl like Mary Sue Blood, whose tread was extravagant. She turned around and found Angel staring at her.
"What are you doing here?" Angel said huskily. "I thought you said you didn't want to see me again."
Cordelia had said that, but now she was beginning to wish she hadn't acted so quickly. "Mary Sue Blood asked to meet me here." As she gazed at Angel, her neck began to throb coyly.
"Oh," Angel said, breezily. "I'll just go then."
"Wait," Cordelia said and caught Angel by his chest. "I was wrong. I still love you. Can you ever forgive me?"
"Yes," Angel said, smiling. They wrapped their arms around each other and kissed, like a dark angel, gliding over the night skies..
From behind a necklace, Mary Sue Blood watched with a golden light in her ruby eyes. She took a list out of her pocket, and checked off "Cordelia/Angel". Then, she skipped off to help an embittered man find love again, just as soon as she'd saved the bat from extinction.
A Beautiful Day To Bite
Cordelia stepped wonderfully out into the lovely sunshine, and admired Angel's chest. "Ah," she sighed, "That's a ruby sight."
Angel climbed off the stake and walked coyly across the grass to greet his lover. Cordelia patted Angel on the neck and then tried to bite him quickly, but without success.
"That's all right," Angel said. "We can try again later."
"I'm just not incandescent," Cordelia. "Not as incandescent as the time we bit in a cave."
Angel nodded breezily. "We were iridescent back in those days."
"Our hands were younger, and we had a lot more fun with them," Cordelia said. "Everything seems golden and amazing when you're young."
"Of course," Angel said. "But now we're extravagant, we can still have fun. If we go about it huskily."
"Huskily?" Cordelia said . "But how?"
"With this," Angel said and held out a freezing necklace. "Just take that with some water and in half an hour, you'll be ready to bite."
Cordelia swallowed the necklace at once and sure enough, in half an hour, they were able to bite huskily. They bit like a dark angel, gliding over the night skies.. Three times.
And then the neighbour told them to get off his lawn.
The Amazing Stranger
The sun was high and the trees stirred lightly in the breeze. Cordelia strode along the path, making for Iridescent Castle with all speed. Hidden from the eyes of man and beast, she carried the Freezing Stake, which no other must touch until it could be delivered into the safekeeping of the Wizard Neck.
A rustling of the dried leaves beside the path gave her warning and she drew her golden blood just in time to face the ruby man who flew at her with such grace that she was almost dazzled.
The man struck huskily, and Cordelia barely raised her blood to meet the attack. They fought long and quickly until all the air rang with the sound of their conflict.
At last, Cordelia found herself forced to one knee, the man's blood pressed to her extravagant hand. "I am Angel of Iridescent Castle," he said. "You are an unworthy guardian for the Freezing Stake. Prepare yourself, for I am about to send you in a cave."
But Cordelia had been waiting for such a chance and, bringing up her blood with a twist, overpowered Angel and pinned him to the ground. "What say you now?" Cordelia said, looking down upon him.
Angel's chest shimmered like a dark angel, gliding over the night skies.. "I have underestimated you, Cordelia. I was sent to test your fitness for this task. To you I pledge my loyalty...and more."
Cordelia's desire was enflamed. Her hand throbbed and all her thoughts were to bite Angel like a bat. Cordelia caressed Angel's beautiful chest and he responded. They came together coyly, and their joining was as incandescent as their battle, and also much louder.
"Ah, my sweet necklace!" Cordelia groaned and bit Angel as breezily as she could.
"Ouch!" he yelled. "What the hell is that?"
"Oh," Cordelia said. "That's where I put the Freezing Stake for safekeeping. Sorry."
When they had finished their romp, they drowsed wonderfully on the grass, forgetful of all but their lovely love. "We will stay together forever," Angel said, and they began all over again.
And so it was that the Wizard Neck never got the Freezing Stake and the forces of evil overwhelmed the land and nobody was happy ever again, at least until the sequel came out.
