I would not worry about the origin of X5/X6 models, as BMW manufactures substantial amount of cars and SUVs outside of Germany.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magna_Steyr manufactures X3, Z4 has been assembled in SC, US for a while too, as well as large number of 3ers produced in South Africa.
BMW quality is the same for all cars/SUVs regardless the country of assembly...

BTW I had a 2004 325i produced in South Africa. Great car, no issues with quality, etc.
