How is one thankful for something he can't fully appreciate?

So I'm siting here. I can't sleep, and I realize something. Thanksgiving wasn't really a significant thing this year. I realize we're supposed to spend it with our families, but the family i spent it with I don't know. I've met the majority no more than 3 or 4 times. You'd think mixed with the one hour of sleep on the ride down and the chemicals I would have passed right out. go figure.
