Thoughts on the film. Don't read if you don't want anything spoiled.
OK, so, I had some questions/problems with the movie.
1) This is less a question and more of a complaint. Wikipedia defines "Deus Ex Machina" as "an artificial, or improbable character, device, or event introduced suddenly in a work of fiction or drama to resolve a situation or untangle a plot." And honestly, if that doesn't describe the end of this film, then what does? It's convenient, and it's trite, and it's a HUGE copout. Maybe it's a little better if he finds the cure and THEN the house is attacked, but even that's a little bit of a stretch.
2) If we're supposed to believe that NY has been closed off from the rest of the country (especially in light of the bridge being blown up in the flashback), then how exactly do Anna and Ethan get onto the island? And, for that matter, how did they get off the island afterwards?
3) Why is it that the CGI looked pretty good until we got to the people? They went out of their way to build up this terrifying thing that happens at night, and when we finally see the victims/bad guys/whatever, I wanted to laugh.
4) Can you really "broadcast on all channels" from NYC? Anna would have had to turn on the radio and find a transmitting AM station. Really?
