if you drop food on the floor and pick it up before three seconds have passed it hasn't had time to get dirty and so is ok to eat. except in my room the dirt is stronger, so there's less time. or something.
I'd propose the opposite. the more dirt there is, the stronger it keeps to its mates and is less inclined to leave them for some strange piece of food that is going to be picked up and eaten anyway.
it'd be nice if it were so, but i'm afraid the dirt on my floor is at a state of severe over population, and thus is happy to jump on any opportunity to migrate. kinda like early 20th century ireland.
We have a totally different system, based on the length of the relation between the cleanliness of the floor and the amount of time the food spend on it.
Currently, we're up to 3 minutes as the house rule.
