Last night there was supposed to be a meeting at the town hall about the pool.

Our town is running a thirteen million dollar deficit due to loss of revenue this year, and naturally the council is scrambling to balance the budget.  It's not rocket science; if property values take a big dip, the taxes follow suit.

He doesn't use the pool, therefore he doesn't care. Has nothing to do with the best interest of the community.

Of course it doesn't. Actually there's other speculation as to why; there's been talk of privatization, and he's described as a "businessman." I'll give him the business :P

Sounds like an attempt to line one's own pockets at the expense of the community, and a gross conflict of interest.

Yes. The board also gave themselves 3000 dollar raises. These are things that the people are going to hold them accountable for on Monday. People are really angry.
