Milestone

Had a milestone swim today - 6000 meters. I started cramping almost 2000 meters before finishing, but I never let it get bad. Go me. It took a long time, but I did it. That being said, it took a lot less time than I thought it might - in fact, it really didn't take that much longer than when I did 5000 ( Read more... )

Congratulations! If not going for 7000 meters, you could try 6500.

Most likely that's what'll happen. The thing is though once I get in the water, I go through these stages. I start out and sometimes I'm like "I'm not going to do that much today, that's crazy" and as I get closer to the "secondary" goal, I think to myself, "but really, I'm not tired yet" and start to push it. So it might happen that I push to 7000, but yeah, I'd probably be thinking more like 6500. The only problem with these really long distances is that it's getting harder and harder on the cramp issue, and if I get a bad one that'll ground me for the day. Josh was a little funny about today, saying he felt I was "bound and determined" to get myself hurt, heh. I explained that this kind of physical activity comes with risks, but I have the drive to do it anyway. I do really have to be careful, though. Maybe my body will build up a tolerance.

Congrats. I really miss you ...I can't wait to see you again. Maybe I could visit some day in the next couple months, otherwise I'll see you at EM. I tried to write a much more indepth account of my offering to e-mail you, but when I clicked send, it disappeared. I guess it's not time for me to write about it yet.
Shoot me an e-mail and let me know what you think about the visit idea!
