It's going to be a long time until most medical workers and even nutritionists (not to mention epidemiologists and other public health spokespersons) start telling the truth about macronutrients, and it'll be eons after that when most of the public gets a fucking CLUE about them.
(sorry for the rant, I've been back on a decent low-carb regimen for several days and I feel great, but still resentful of people who can eat grains and taters and still be small enough to be treated like human beings :-)

Doctors are/were afraid to recommend them. His doctor admitted that when she thought of a low-carb (ie. Atkins) style diet she could visualize fat globules swimming in his blood. Not true for those who do these types of diets correctly (ie. pepperoni, cheese, and lunchmeats are not healthy staples, even if they are low carb!)
