Does anybody have any information on this area of west side Madison? I am an east sider and don't know much on this area. We may be moving in over there.

Thanks

I lived over there for a while, it was decent. It seemed like occasionally "trouble" happened further down Raymond(toward Meadowood/Allied Dr) or south toward PD, and was usually kids being stupid as opposed to violent crimes. I didn't ever feel unsafe or threatened when I was out walking by myself.

It's been a few years but I imagine it hasn't changed too much.

Oh, and location-wise it's great. Nice parks in the area, easy access to the bus line in most parts, fast access to Verona/Fitchburg/Beltline, and grocery/shopping/library/gas/whatever is close too.

Agreed--that side of McKenna doesn't get a lot of trouble. I lived on the other side and never had problems but there were occasional break-ins etc. Don't leave your garage doors open or your bicycles outside; there are opportunity bike thieves, as there are in many parts of Madison. It is mostly just kids being stupid...someone went through my car once (open garage door, car unlocked) but didn't take anything. I walked all over the neighborhood and never felt unsafe, and there was lots of cool stuff to see...my favorite is the yard up on Piedmont where tiny dinosaurs appear in random places around the fence, the garden etc.

It's decent. I live right in this area (and have for many years) and I feel safe here. I agree with the above posters that most of the trouble is just unsupervised kids being dumb. Neighbors are generally friendly and we're close to a lot of shopping, schools, etc.

yeah, that's the summary i was going to post: nice enough (i enjoyed living right on elver park), most of the problems are unsupervised kids/petty burglary/vandalism.
