So they said it could not be done. They told me I was crazy to try growing plumeria in Montana.
After 7 weeks the rootball has apparently done its thing, and now the leaves are finally starting to grow!

Looks like a refridgerator experiment. Rather moldy it is.

The white stuff right on top was a sealant from the nursery. The powdery white stuff is that flaking off or the root hormone it got dipped into.
What do you expect to see when I use the macro mode to magnify the whole thing? The longest leaf bud is about 4 mm.

Ah. We have plumerias too but they didn't come with sealant. They were shrink wrapped.

God, I hope not!
It is going to have to be carted in the house most nights even in summer, and so it needs to remain as a small bush.
Plumeria's drop dead temperature (literally) is 50°F. Our night-time lows are still in the high 40s, low 50s.

We've had them live thru high 30's after they were established. Wrap the trunk with some Xmas tree lights and throw a cover over the plant. The heat from the lights will take care of business. Looks kind of cool too.
