First world problem?

So we are going on a cruise in December, and looking at all the options will make your head spin. However, one that is perplexing me is the notion that I should buy a "Drinks Package" so I can drink as much as I want, at all hours of the day, and not even have to tip the waiters ( Read more... )

By my calculation I'd have to drink five drinks a day, every day, for the package to be worth it. I don't think I'm even physically CAPABLE of doing that. So I'll be buying mine a la carte. John on the other hand will definitely get the soda package. :)

We usually smuggle on a bottle or two of wine and a flask of scotch. We honestly drink and astonishing amount on cruises, although in our case it tends to be at least a bottle of wine a day. I don't know if that is covered under the drink card. We never drink soda on a cruise. See above sentence. I recall trying to make it a point to wait until at least noon to begin drinking.

In contrast, at home we drink a bottle of wine a week, and a glass of something else about twice a week. So, on average, less than one drink a day. On a cruise it's more like one an hour.
