I think Verizon, etc have fundamentally failed to understand what infrastructure is. Also, I hate them. Hate, hate, hate.

Well, from where I come from, infrastructure is the lifeline for economic and social development. If this is what happens when some of that said development happens, we can stop talking about digital divides and move onto wider chasms.

That's how I feel, too. These companies have established infrastructure from which they have already derived HUGE benefit; they should be understanding their work as providing the foundation for future development from which they will continue to benefit.
