Harrod's is an awesome place for fancy tea. My dad and I went there for tea and wound up stuffed to the gills on incredible scones, jam, and clotted cream. The upstairs tea room is pretty, too.

Hampton Court is also awesome. Make sure you have time for the maze; we missed that. The best part about Hampton Court is how it is a whole mix of periods and styles. Plus, the gift shop sells an incredible variety of interesting alcohol, like elderflower wine and blackberry cordial.

I don't know if you've ever gone to Oxford and Anassed, but I've wanted to since I went there while still a sophomore. One day.

Fancy tea - Fortnum & Mason is the best, as far as I'm concerned. They do amazing gluten free/no dairy/no egg versions for people with special dietary needs too.

The Orangery at Kensington Palace for fancy tea, if you feel like something not-a-department-store.

I second the rec for the Orangery at Kensington Palace! It's delicious, and also really affordable. Plus, the atmosphere and the scenery are lovely, since you're in Hyde Park. When I lived in London, I brought everyone who wanted high tea to the Orangery and they all loved it.

Thirded! Other great places to visit - Westminster Abbey and st pauls (go for evensong and it's free), primrose hill, borough market, spitalfields, national portrait gallery, brunch on marylebone high st, the view of the city from Greenwich park next to the observatory, followed by lunch in Blackheath village...
