The Emmys and fanfiction

The Emmys were a bit odd in my little corner of fandom. For those of you who don't know, my most recent fanfic output was a 160,000 word "Sherlock" AU story called Performance in a Leading Role in which Sherlock and John are actors. Sherlock is a highbrow Oscar winner and John is the king of rom-coms, both their careers are in a slump until they ( Read more... )

I enjoyed Hatfields and McCoys, but it was too long. They could have told that story in far fewer hours, but we kept watching because it WAS good. But half the length would have been sufficient.

I believe Tom Hanks executive produced the Sarah Palin movie with Julianne Moore. Game Change? I believe that Kevin Costner was also the producer behind Hatfields and McCoys.

I'm disappointed that Sherlock didn't win but alas, the Emmys have no taste. ;)

It was because of the Emmys that Performance in a Leading Role was recommended to me on Monday, which led to the marathon read, and then the monstrous essay of a comment I left you last night. :P Hope you, um, enjoyed all that!

Oh, wow, is it weird that I never even connected the Emmy red carpet with "Performance" until reading this post? Because, yeah, they may look a little like Benedict and Martin, but clearly the story is about, you know, Sherlock and John. And Benedict doesn't even really look like Sherlock to me without his hair and demeanor--and he certainly doesn't act like him! So I caught that distinction loud and clear. But still, now that I'm looking at it in that way, it's a lot of fun! But I just like seeing them together, onscreen or off. :)

And as for the Emmys, I'm sad Sherlock didn't win anything (though it wasn't entirely unexpected), but I think it's a really big deal that they were nominated at all--and so many times, as well! I can't deny what a thrill it was seeing Benedict live on US TV. Any exposure the boys get in the US is good.

I haven't seen "The Hatfields and the McCoys," but my parents watched it and said it was really well done.

So if you want to trust my parents on it, it was good. :D
