I, for one, missed your posts. I remember laying in m hotel bed in Pigalle. My girlfirnd and I were waiting out a summer hailstorm. We laid there with the windows open and watched the ice balls shoot down and the TV was on. We're not an item anymnore, maybe that's another reason why it was such a magical moment, but the TV was playing this really fat bald guy dressed in combat boots and a ripped up shirt. The music, though French, was a lot like Tom Waits, weird thumping, buzzing throbbing sounds and this fat guy would whisper, chant, howl and sing (in French of course). His name was Pigalle too. I wished I picked some up while I was there. I have found him online but it's always so expensive, I haven't gotten 'round to ordering any. Besides, maybe it wouldn't be the same without Amanda laying on my arm, the hail bouncing off the ledge, the humid air and the gentle ache for a croque monsieur
What a great memory! This last visit to France is now filled with them. There truly is some good French music out there, but you really have to keep your ears open. I would love to find this Pigalle guy that you mention
