so this is the one. the Big One. the one where sammy (and therefore, us) learn about dean's time in hell...
*uncontrollable sobbing*
but it's also the one where dean and the angel-woman (anna) get their groove on in the back of the impala (poor car) and it ends very awkwardly with a hand print in the steam on the window (so 'titantic' it almost made me puke).
...the episode where ruby gets tortured. and we're not sure if we really enjoyed that/enjoyed it too much.
...the episode after the one where we learn about sam and ruby's extracurricular activities ("brain-stabbing imagery!") and where we learn for the second time that alastair seems to be Demon: Unkillable. (what is it going to take people?! ...oh that's right, a trip down torture lane with deany bear. *anger face*)
...and cas. since i'm rewatching this all, its an interesting feeling seeing him in this way, as opposed to the evolution his character makes in the coming seasons (we're not even going to talk about 6 or 7 right now, m'kay?) its fascinating, this internal battle he's waging with himself in these episodes; i'd forgotten: tempted by the humans under his charge and what that would mean to his faith and obedience. and his depth-searching stares (eye-pron?). honestly, i believe that that man can see straight through to my soul.
as a final thought: i love how this ep builds toward the overall -and as yet, fuzzy- destiny of dean winchester. this episode focusing on dean's time in hell, and how every angel already knows (it's not like vegas apparently): anna offers him comfort, uriel uses it against him, and cas just keeps silent. for now. and there's a hint, a very small hint, when uriel says "you can be replaced" that just send chills up my spine. uriel, you assbutt!
