that is such an incredible drive. i've done it several times. a couple tips, don't hesitate to get gas often. there are looong stretches of pure desert. oh, and don't stop in bat country. ;)

I drove that whole way without stopping to sleep once. Left after the show in LA and was supposed to switch with Shaggy in El Paso. Got pulled over in El Paso and informed that nobody in my band had a valid driver's license and two had warrants. They only didn't get arrested because the cops didn't want to extradite from El Paso to Houston for traffic warrants. I ended up driving the rest of the way to Houston from there. By the time I hit San Antonio I was hallucinating from sleep deprivation. I don't know how we made it back to Houston alive as I don't remember the last 3 hours of the drive.

So, yeah, don't do that.

Also the thing is worth the Dollar but the most expensive gas stop around there so don't stop there for gas.

I did the straight thru no stops drive too after the 2005 Rose Bowl. I don't recommend it.

Joel and I drove from Valley Village to Phoenix on day 1, then Phoenix to Austin on day 2. I recommend pacing it out better than we did.
