Agatha doesn't know most of the Geister's mythology, and there was that flashback bit in book 4 that none of the characters knows.
But I agree with Tarvek having altered it, most likely, though when did he have the TIME? That might be why he's so freaking out about it going off- he knows that it's giving its altered message at the worst possible time. After all, all the Baron has to do to make sure no one remembers the message is wipe out the city...
The alternative is that the Foglios are really fucking with us. The Baron kicks off as an enemy figure. By this point I at least have come to consider him to be one of the heroes- antihero, perhaps, ruthless and dark, but he's trying to save the world. What if the first view was right and he's been the Other the whole time?
Each of the words in the new message appeared in the old message, except the male pronoun of course, which is why it's fuzzed out. In the original, Agatha's wearing the red bodice (Which I'm hoping to do for my Halloween costume for this year BTW) and in this one it's an image that was made after Lucrenza/The Other had taken over Agatha's body, but the words are from when Agatha recorded it. This leads me to conclude that it couldn't be Lucrenza who did it
( ... )
Good question. For a long time Noah was trying to convince Robynne to go as Agatha. He wanted to be the Baron, and I do still want to go as a clank one of these days. :)
