The sweet, sweet feel of victory. I am still riding high on my cloud of smugness this morning. Yesterday, I finally ran my prey to ground at the Parent-Teacher Conferences. Long story is long.
kudos to you for advocating for your son. most parents are just happy they can pawn their kids off to school and that is where their involvement ends. it is heartwarming and encouraging when a parent takes an interest in their child's education.
as far as the teacher-- one of the reasons i home schooled. to have a teacher smugly insist on your son's exam grade without giving the paper a look-see just in case a mistake was made... i think i would insist the principal reinstate the rewards for your son, he's earned them. that would also bring to his attention the conceited incompetence of one of his teachers. i can see them giving her a warning to be sure in her grading.
i can also see some parents punishing a child for receiving a grade so far under the expected for him or her without questioning the teacher. other parents (especially in the honors' classes) should find out. particularly the parents of those unfortunate children who had to suffer the ire of a disappointed parent.
I am actually very curious about how many other students may have been affected. I haven't had a chance to speak with any of the other parents yet, but I will
( ... )
i was wondering if you've found anything more on if other kids' scores were affected, and if you spoke to the principal about what kind of compensation your son and any other students affected by the exam score snafu?
i still don't think that it would be fair that those kids missed out through no fault of their own. maybe the 'teacher' should pay for some sort of reward for the students she had short changed. it might be incentive for her to be more conscientious in future.
