Well, that was interesting. I guess now we know what a British remake of House would look like ( Read more... )

I very much agree except that I've never seen House so I can't really comment on that part. I'm also, on the point of the obnoxious genius trope, convinced that Holmes and John Bloom from Identity are basically the same character with different names and situations, so I'm doubly fed up of that one.

Have never seen Identity so I can't comment on John Bloom, but let me guess: he's flamboyantly unpleasant but also *right* and either nobody dares call him on his shit or if they do they get smacked down by the narrative?

Nice to have your agreement--most reviews I've seen have been squeeing over plot and slashiness.

Yes, spot on. And his female boss just lets him get on with it all. Still, she has slightly more depth than most female characters. Kind of embossed paper rather than tissue paper.

*ears perk* Steven Moffat has produced a new series based on Sherlock Holmes???

*wants* *wonders how long it will take BBCA to pick it up*

He has. It's an extremely good piece of television, barring the things I moan about above.

Heaven knows about BBCA. How quick are they usually?

Depends. It may be years or if they consider it popular enough to be popular here, they may put it out right away. They're currently two weeks behind for Doctor Who and a few months behind for Top Gear. And for some ridiculous reason, they recently picked up Star Trek:TNG, presumably because of Picard as ST:TNG is about as British as I am....
