well, i guess ray bradbury could somehow predict the future in 'fahrenheit 451', regarding violence and technology.
it's not that safe here anymore. we were able to walk alone at night last time, but now, there's the risk of having mistaken identity or just becoming a victim of mindless and foolish act. okay, maybe not just at night, but during the day too (but more so at night).
for some reason, there is an alarming increase of gang fights overnight. blood is splattered on the ground and lives are lost with a snap of our fingers. it is that easy to kill, huh?
why do teenagers resort to violence? must there be bloodshed before they are satisfied? due to a moment of folly, they will spend the rest of their lives in gaol.
drop the knives. do not get involved in activities which will make you regret for the rest of your lives.
due to the advancement in technology, people are getting more distracted. okay, let's use me as an example. every night i sit in front of the computer when i can use the time to read. maybe it's just me being addicted to computer.
it's just like in 'fahrenheit 451' eh? it's like watching parlor walls and listening to the seashells. some do not have time to read anymore, with new gadgets being created which might be more engaging than books.
yes, technology helps us a lot, and without it, the world might stop just like if we switch off the television, but i guess we should use technology wisely and not let it engulf us.
