I work in a tattoo/body piercing studio. The best thing to do as specially with a piercing in a hard to soak spot is put the salt mixture on a cotton ball. I highly reccomend saline wound wash in a can. You can get it at your local drug store.

Handmade saline is generally better as you can heat it more easily. Additionally, cotton balls aren't great to use as the fibers can irritate a healing piercing.

Sea salt work the best; try buying a small spray bottle (the size of a travel hairspray bottle). I used that for all my piercings, and put it on after I touched it or if it became irritated.

Warm water sea salt soaks are the best thing you can do. Stick your nose in the water and blow bubbles, or just do them in the shower.

If it's hard to submerge just one side of your nose, use a larger glass/bowl or don't be afraid to submerge your whole nose and breathe out of your mouth...you shouldn't need to tilt a glass to do that ( ... )

i just wanted to thank you for posting this. I'm planning on within the month getting my nose pierced (on both sides actually because i'm a nut for symmetry)

i find that H2Ocean and a q-tip is amazingly useful i've used it for my industrial when it acts up in the past and its VERY refreshing (great for when its hot out) plus it doesn't have that nasty chemical smell some sprays do, its just water and salt and some organic soothing things great for healing! you can get it online or at most piercing places :)

Can i ask how long it took for any redness etc. to go down? i'm trying to time my piercings with a decent enough time before a modelling gig/convention and would prefer not to have a red nose if it takes several days.....any info would be ideal!

i'm hyperdermographic so the slightest needle prick or scratch blows up/swells up. Its short lived or else i wouldn't have my 2 tattoos (large) and my many peircings including an industrial in each ear and 1" lobes. However nose is more noticeable and i'd like to ideally stay out of picturres if its a little red so probabyl AFTER my modelling gig is best just to be safe.

definetely pick up the H2Ocean as its just all over great and no nasty chemcal smell or sticky yuck from Salt Water Soaks which i gave up on for my stretched lobes due to angle as well. I'v e used it befoe amt its super effective and calming. They even make a mouth wash for oral piercngs! (tho tongue piercing still makes me a bit squeamsih tho i've always wanted it done saside from the nose piercing)
