Things I could do without

I've just about had it up to 'here' with pro athletes talking about religion and/or politics. It's bad enough quite a few NHL players I follow constantly tweet "inspirational" religious quotes or messages, but yapping about politics is totally beyond the pale. Is NOTHING personal anymore? I suppose not ( Read more... )

*high 5*

i love my gays, but i also love my chicken minis. and on rare occasions i'm up early enough to get them, i do. besides demanding people to not believe what they want to believe and use their money how they want to makes you just as bad as them thinking gay people are wrong. you cant win your freedom of choice by taking away someone elses. ya know?
besides, 8-1 isnt gonna do anything. most chickfila's are in the south where alot more right wing repubs represent. besides that i'll be pissed if i have to get up at ass'o clock on a wens to save my chicken minis. and big side note...the creators of chickfila might be anti gay, but the peeps that run the one by my house have a couple gays working there. so while sticking it to the man, they're potentially screwing alot of people who are probably depending on their shitty fast food job. ya know?

ugh i hate people equally nowadays.

I was thinking the same thing about taking peoples' jobs - I mean, in this economy fast food jobs aren't just for high school students anymore: people NEED them to get by. I would hate to see someone making minimum wage get screwed and chances are they don't even share Chik-Fil-A's political or religious views in the first place. It's like when anarchists smash the windows at Starbucks - yes, Starbucks does some shitty things, but who is stuck cleaning up the broken glass? Some poor employee who makes 8 bucks an hour. I'd feel worse about that than drinking their coffee, you know?

i'm all for people being able to live their life how they want. to believe in what they want. to spend their money how they want. but i have how overly sensitive people have gotten. and the overly PC thing annoys the shit outta me!

what drives me nuts about about athletes and religion/politics is that they think they can spout off but no one else has a right to an opinion about it. like when tim thomas pulls the religious persecution card. they;re entitled to an opinion and to voice it, but to think there are no consequences good or bad is nuts ( ... )

When are people going to understand that Freedom Of Speech does NOT equal Freedom From Criticism? You're responsible for what you post online and some people aren't going to like it - that's how it goes. The idea that Tim Thomas - a white christian millionaire - feels persecuted is hilarious. It's a situation entirely of his own design and creation because of his internet posts and has NOTHING to do with reality.

I'm not entirely sure boycotts work, either. In fact, sometimes they have the opposite effect. I bet there are enough people on either side of the debate who will either boycott or eat there more so that things will even out. In a country of 300 million + I guess that's how things work out.

Honestly, I worry more about the religious beliefs of people who are actually dictating policy, but then again, you vote them out and they are replaced with other idiots. You can't win.
