These are very useful to keep handy, but do need to be kept charged themselves.

I've found it worthwhile having a Bluetooth OBD2 connector for these situations. Available from Amazon for under $25 (I'd post a link to the one I have, but it says it's Android only).

Bec has a little of that "it's broken, can I have another" thing going on, but usually she's pretty good. But she's only been driving for about a year and a half, and this is the first time the check engine light had gone on and she had a car full of friends, and a squirrel ate her homework.
