I'm working on that issue myself. Family game night/family dinners help but are also *WORK* for parent(s) because you spend the entire time refereeing the two of them and working on the causes of their problems.

Check out the community badparents. They have great tips on things like this. I'm going to be facing the same issue when the girls (now 11 and 5, can you believe it!) come home for school next year.

I think the martial arts class would be good. I've heard that those classes not only teach the art, but they teach respect and how to deal with others. See if you can get them in a class through the Y, if the Y offers that??? And the support group would be great too.

My kids fight, but not to that extent (I think they know I'd beat them to death if they did, lol, j/k).....But they do go their rounds and I know how bad it sucks. My 12 year old will go rounds with my 6 year old, crazy!!!!

But that's what I think would help, wish I had more ideas.....If I read something or hear something regarding this, I'll pass along info. ;)

XOXO

I know my kids aren't that old yet but I highly recommend looking into Parenting with Love and Logic. There's a book you can read (from the library even!) to get you started. They have a website at loveandlogic.com with good tips and lots of resources. Several friends of mine with older kids have done it and SWEAR by it ( ... )
