Its never good to hold back. As long as you don't hurt others or yourself(and in the emotional arena, nobody can hurt you unless you let them), then its probobly better to ask "why not?" instead of "should I?" You'll be happier, I promise.
besides, you're probobly being hard on yourself. I would imagine you don't complicate things all that much.
