I really love my job, but I almost quit today. I'm frustrated by too many things, and some of them are my fault, and they're things that I may be able to change, but some of the things are the way that I perceive that I'm being spoken to. I need to change some things, and I don't know if that means dropping my last 3 ILS clients completely or ( Read more... )

I think you need to have a conversation with C's mother, non accusatory, where you discuss the role and goals of an ILS instructor. I can imagine his mom has difficulty trusting other people to do their jobs as well as she might do them, but she cannot be there all of the time and you are there to help. I know that she appreciates what you do, and that she believes you are competent. Perhaps she feels overstretched or something new has been stressing her lately? I don't know if you need to demand more respect, since I know she respects you under most circumstances, but I do think you guys need to have a more even-handed conversation, where no ultimatums get handed down, because everyone is on the same level.
