  • my playing has been really consistent lately, which pleases me. i've been doing this whole get-up-at-7.00am-to-go-practise thing pretty much since the semester started, and i've been rocking out in all my rehearsals. imagine: if i keep this up all semester, i'll be fucking amazing. who would have thought ( Read more... )

I wrote your number down and have been meaning to call, but you know.

Moving to a new place
15 hours of classes
A husband and animals to take care of
Homework
3 hours a day in the car

You know. Maybe one day.

i would check out that whole secondary thing because i have just been informed that our fabulous school has been in the process of deciding that maybe they wouldn't like to allow us to play the piano as a secondary instrument. i love them. certainly the most practical/ reasonable decision, right? riiiiiight.

there was a trumpet player here named craig taylor last year -- i don't know whether you remember him or not -- who tried to get natural trumpet to count as his secondary instrument. i remember that he fought hard for a long time about this, but they wouldn't let him count it because it still had the word "trumpet" in the title. which doesn't make any sense. i mean, they have jazz saxophoneand classical saxophone, jazz piano and classical piano, percussion and drumset, so why wouldn't natural trumpet have counted. even rex fought for craig, and his argument was that he couldt't even play natural trumpet.

anyhow, dr v said she'd have me in her studio, and i don't understand why piano wouldn't be considered a secondary instrument. i mean, do they honestly think that we learn enough in keyboard skills so that piano wouldn't count as a secondary instrument? i hardly think so. i mean, "lift ev'ry voice" is hardly standard repertoire.

so much for drunken lj commenting.
