Experiment 16 [Backdated to stroke of midnight New Years Eve]

Jan 01, 2012 16:59

[A minute after the clock strikes twelve in the city of Discedo, every single light in the city that isn't broken flares to life, lighting up every building and street. There's a few moments silence before Washu finally speaks.]

Happy New Year.

washu's gift to the city, let there be light

[A moment's pause.]

Did you do this?

If you mean restore electricity to the city, then yes.

Is that what this is? Electricity? I am afraid I am unfamiliar with it.

Oh~? Then I will just have to educate you now won't I?

First lets start with defining what electricity is. It is a phenomenon that can either be artificially or naturally created in which an electrical charge is produced.

The most recognizable of the phenomenon happens to be lightening or even static electricity. Artificially it is a current being generated through a conductive material used to power an item such as a lightbulb, toaster or television.

Or if you're not familiar with those~. It's what makes the communicators work.

Any questions so far?

[There is an indignant little squeak from this end. And a very unassuming lump of blankets, presumably with the squeaker inside.]

So bright!

[Chuckles and smirks.]

Of course, electricity tends to do that to lights.

[The blanketlump whines.]

But it's too bright now!

[At least Flandre thinks so for the next thirty seconds.

The white rabbit hopping up onto blanket mountain to investigate the noise thinks you are silly, Flandre. It has its ears turned toward the communicator like satellite dishes--while its nose twitches in what might be a disapproving manner. Maybe.]

[She can't help it, the sight is just too cute! Laughter soon replaces the chuckles.]

Just let your eyes adjust~. It's better than being in total darkness all the time.

[And the morning of the 2nd there will be a small bag of Juraian tea on top of Washu's work with a note:

Happy New Year]

Oh, you have done a excellent job, Little Washu! Xīnnián kuàilè!

It is a welcoming sight after what just happened, aru.

[OOC Translate: "Happy New Year!"]

Thank you~. I'm glad everyone seems to appreciate my months of hard work. I figured the city needed a literal 'light of hope'.

...And Happy New Year to you too~.

A light of hope indeed. I hope you made it through the ordeal in one piece?

Sorry, I have a bad habit of switching languages sometimes. But yes! If only we some decent rice baijiu like the ones they left during October. Then again, when I ate the chocolate, I felt much better, aru!

Of course I did. Admittedly, I still refuse to believe in 'magic' with out definitive proof and the recent situation was less than ideal to conduct experiments.

[Chuckles.]

Don't worry about it~. I am afraid that my grasp on Earth languages is a little rusty, but it's translatable.

For celebration~, I think I mite have a little sake around here, that chocolate and perhaps whatever else we find ay be celebratory enough for me.

You're welcome, miss! I've launched small satellites before, but I don't think I could restore electricity to an entire town.

Oh~? Trust me, it wasn't easy. It took month of work to get the power grid online.
