Since my last couple of entries were rather depressing (and friends-locked), I thought I should knock out at least one entry in the meantime that's more upbeat (and public). So here goes

I bet you got a lot more out of them as a forty-something, too. (When I think of the many lost opportunities I, as a clueless twenty year old living in Europe missed, I want to howl)
While I was writing this I was thinking about how I believe my historical novels were much better than if I'd written them in my 20s. I held off, though, because I was afraid that would imply I thought people should wait to write what they want to write until someday when they're "better".
I don't think the novels were better because of being a better writer in general than in my 20s (though I certainly hope I improved). I think they were better because what I was writing about had become even more meaningful to me with age.
