"My writing professor, who is an established poet, asked why we write. Why? Aside from journalist goals, we write in fiction and poetry to give volume to life. To spark emotion. To promote communication. To keep things alive, because in a world that is so desensitized and awfully unaware, creation is the only way. We read books about horror, about romance, about the Holocaust, about friendships, about death, and why. Why write it, and why read it. As long as there is life on Earth, there will be creation. And without it, we are at a loss of our potential and gracious gift of human cognition. Its what fuels us. So, when I sit down to write a story I must be mindful that somewhere, the energy I use toward the creation is being expanded, absorbed and fueling this confusing life within the human mind. "
