So LJ comes with a new response.

I'm still not happy. Not one bit. And this is why:

Our process for drawings, cartoons, animation and other non-photographic images is slightly different. An image of this type that obviously violates our policy will be treated the same as a photographic image of child pornography, but in questionable cases ( Read more... )

Where are you getting these icons, btw? I've seen a bunch, and don't know where they're from, or who makes them.

What gets me most is that these people seem to be unable to distinguish between fantasy and reality. Reality is when there is harm done to a REAL child, a person who suffers and bears a cost for whatever has been done to them. A fictional character, in a FICTIONAL situation, harms NO ONE, and yet is treated the SAME? Okay, so by this logic my son, who plays a bunch of first person shooter video games, is a murderer a zillion times over, because that's the SAME THING. By their interpretation, where they say "death threats" are illegal, then an artist drawing a picture of someone being murdered should be banned as well. They are elevating ONE crime to a special status that they aren't giving to equally heinous acts, which bugs the crap out of me. Why just this one thing? Why not murder and rape and graphic depictions of hate crimes? If they are going to make themselves the interpretors of all that is moral, then they should be completely even handed about it. Otherwise it IS discrimination on their part.

It doesn't do a lot to convince me, I'm sorry. They said similar comforting things earlier and look what that got us. I think I'll just keep doing what I'm doing.

We should just all go over to IJ and drop LJ like it's dropping fandom.

*sigh* It's enough to calm me, but not satisfy me so I can stay. Because I'm not and I just don't feel comfortable. But now there's another problem. Dammit. It seems a bunch of people complained to the General Attorney's Office here in California concerning Costumer problems, and if you know with investigations and stuff that they are going to find out the root of all this uproar. And it seems that Warner Brothers have found out about the concerns around the Harry Potter fandom:

"Case and point: Today they received something along the lines of cease and desist from Warner Bros, regarding a LOCKED post, that is not open to the public. WB was obviously informed of said illegal/iffy content by someone in the community who is probably there acting as a troll to stir shit up. I know this has happened before, to other communities, most notably the media sharing communities."

This was taken from this post. While I know C & D letters are not new, I really really don't like the spotlight on fandom right now. And it's kind of obvious WB knows ( ... )

She doesn't specifically say it's Harry Potter fandom, but come on, Warner Brothers have a track record for sending out C & D letters to HP fen concerning their adult/slashy stories. Heck, I don't even think JK knows they're doing it. While she thinks it's odd and such, she's not actively trying to take it down or what not, but she is known to being vigilant on protecting the adult content from the kids. WB isn't that lenient or nice about it. And as they are trying to take down a fic that is LOCKED, I'm positive it's P_P, because it's been on the radar lately.
