well, it is clear that i have been using this livejournal primarily as a tool to be able to participate in a couple of groups. i don't actually think anyone has ever _read_ this page, so i don't feel obliged to post to it. but on the off chance that Somebody Out There Loves Me--er--that someone IS checking in--i will mention that i am home from ( Read more... )

excellent! a reader! and a reader who would love to visit! keep me postered.

VCon, with barbara hambly as guest of honour, is the 6th to the 8th of october, so unless you wanted to be involved with that, probably a visit a few days before or after would be better. i'll be pretty busy right then.

maybe i will be able to get down your way. though honestly, the prospects at the moment are slim, having tapped my cat-sitting resources to the max with two weeks in manitoba and 5 in haiti. i guess i had better sit tight and wait for you.

love to the pupulator.

Missed you while you were away, and am glad to know that you are home, happy and sound. I always worry about you when you are in Haiti, because it seems such an unstable place, but I understand why you love it, same reason why I love Thailand.

i'm glad you missed me! and i understand the worry.

i used to congeal with fear when susan would make plans for zaire and other places with miniature wars going on. i worry, too, if i go to haiti when things are chaotic.

but once actually IN port au prince i became much more relaxed because the people i was with were. not complacent, but not paranoid, and fully aware that they are among the least likely people to be targetted, for a variety of reasons.

the media really leave out--well, don't even know--so many of the finer points.

i also knew that, was anything scarey to happen, being with the folk i was with i was in a much better position to survive than if i had been with most any other people--particularly military sorts like the UN troops. and of course, the folk i was with don't go looking for trouble, and you can bet that neither do i.
