The RNLI isn't a forgotten thing in my family. It's a much cherished thing as a lot of my family were involved in nautical life. Less so than it used to be because various relatives died but even now its something which tends to support. My stepfather has worked for the seaman's mission etc too.

What happens if you have a sponser form that says..
"I'm going to cut my hair off and give it to this charity...
I'm going to do this if you donate it to charity or not..
But if you want to help people and this inspires you - feel free"
You're not cutting it off for charity..
but no problem with people donating if they want

I think the cash raise thing comes out of the "i'm not going to do it unless you give x" rather than "I'm doing it anyway give money"

My mates asked me how much it would cost for me to have my head shaved. I said £250. An hour later they presented me with £250 and asked the guy to borrow his clippers.
I spent the money on D&D books, fags and beer - everyone since I have told the story to assumed I was going to give it to charity...
