Most people back home refer to the Lunar New Year as “Chinese New Year” but it is widely celebrated throughout Asia and of course each culture has it’s own name for the holiday. I know, isn't it crazy how respect is such a big deal in Asian cultures? I guess it is in other cultures as well--though definitely not American!

Be careful..."rejecting" a gift may come across as disrespectful as well...I'm not sure what the etiquette is in that situation.

What's your favorite Korean food so far? :)

Yeah, the respect for elders is very widespread. SO much that I always see people give up their seats for the elderly (which is also common back home). Also, I have seen people help elderly people walk up and down the stairs. Carry their stuff for them etc.

As for food....hmmm...I really love jajangmyun (I don't know how to spell it in English) but I think its Korean-Chinese food and I love to eat bulgogi. What about you? Any recommendations from your mother?

Hm...I don't know what jajangmyun is (or I don't know the Korean name of it!). I love bulgogi too, but I think galbi (or kalbi) is probably my favorite. Though, if you haven't yet, you need to try the rice buns filled with red bean paste or barbeque beef. I don't know what they are called in Korean, but they are SO good!
