First off, your title is excellent. I love that Watson's "superpower" is predicting the future, at least when it comes to Holmesian tirades. But I think Holmes is right on one point: Watson cannot tell him that he actually enjoyed that farce. (Your closing line was excellent too.)

Yes! The very first filmed SH! And I can see Mr. We-Are-Not-Amused sitting with his arms folded, glaring at the screen. And of course Watson would be miffed that he didn't even get a walk-on during those 60 seconds.

With all respect to Nigel Bruce, I imagine that Watson would be just as miffed as Holmes here if he had watched a Basil Rathbone SH flick.
