When in Amsterdam one should eat Rijsttafel (Indonesian Food), visit Anne Frank’s House and the Van Gogh Museum, drink Genever (Dutch Gin), go to a Bruin Café, buy very mature Gouda cheese from a market, window-shop for diamonds … or you could just get stoned and go gay clubbing. LOL!

Alas, like everything else in my life, my guide book to Amsterdam is more than 25 years old, so not much help to you! But I do remember loving the city. Just walking around it was great. :-))

I actually hated the Red Lights District; a very sad place that is...

I would recommend a tour of the channels, even if it's in October. Oh, and to take a very windproof vest - we were there in November once, and while it wasn't cold, it was very wet and chilly.

Cheese, oh, yes. You may even consider going to this excursion to Henry Willig's cheese farm (if there are still in autumn, of course). It was very interesting. And all their cheeses, oh I will just say I couldn't eat most ours since I came back :-)

wow) OK, now - who's Anne Frank? What's Bruin Cafe famous for and why is it a 'a' cafe? Not really interested in diamonds ( And "drugs don't work" *quoting some rock song* for me, can't get no fun anymore :-), so no gay clubbing planned *lol* Wait a minute!... Naaah, it's not likely at all that one particular dark-haired, tall, lean and grumpy character could be at the same time in the same club with me (
